How can you teach vocabulary?

Techniques of teaching new vocabulary:-[/b]
1- Elicitation:-
Try to elicit the meaning from the pupils themselves .Never say or do anything that can be or done by the pupils themselves.

2- Real Objects:-
A good teacher may bring real things with him inside the class like: an orange - a ball-a pencil.....etc these things will enable your pupils to get the meaning easily.

3- Pictures and gestures:-
Pictures drawn in set books are of great value and importance ,they may be used to convey the meaning

4- Direct association:-
This technique will enable the teacher how to present concrete things in the classroom like: roof,desk......

5- Actions:-
Words may be easily presents by acting the scene.

6-The context:-

Words may be used in sentences that lead to the student understanding.

7- Translation:-[/color]
Using Arabic is the weakest way to teach English,you can use Arabic when it is necessary.

8- Antonyms( opposite):-
The teacher can easily use the opposite to make the meaning clear , this technique may be used to shed light on adjectives like : tall-short-fat -thin........etc

9- Flash cards :-
Using flash cards may be used to make the meaning clear.
